For years, Subaru has been known for producing some of the most well rounded and capable crossover SUVs on the road. Now, Subaru is continuing that tradition with a pair popular and impressive models.

Both the 2020 Forester and 2020 Crosstrek offer the kind of versatility, safety, and fun that drivers near Greensburg and Latrobe have come to expect from Subaru. The two crossover SUVs have a lot in common. But there are some differences to keep in mind as well as you shop around and decide which is the right fit for you.

Design

From a design standpoint, the major difference between the 2020 Crosstrek and 2020 Forester is size. While both models are small SUVs with room for five passengers, the Forester is simply bigger. It boasts up to 76.1 cubic feet of cargo space and 111.9 cubic feet of passenger volume. The Crosstrek holds its own, however, with a healthy 55.3 cubic feet of cargo space.

Performance

The Crostrek and Forester share some common performance attributes. Both models come standard with symmetrical all-wheel drive and a sturdy BOXER engine. Though the Forester offers a larger engine, both models are rated at up to 33 mpg highway with their continuously variable transmissions. If you're looking for a manual transmission, however, you'll want to go with the sporty Crosstrek. The Forester and Crosstrek can both handle all-terrain duties with 8.7 inches of ground clearance and available X-MODE.

Safety

Both models offer EyeSight® Driver Assist Technology. This package includes features like Automatic Pre-Collision Braking, Lane Keep Assist, and more. Choose the 2020 Forester, and you'll get EyeSight® Driver Assist Technology standard. The package isn't standard on the Crosstrek, but it's available on every trim level.
